Marie Wilhelmina Albertson was born December 20, 1920, in Sanborn, MN, the daughter of Henry and Marie (Heberling) Becker. She attended Lutheran School through grade school and graduated from Sanborn High School in 1938. Marie was united in marriage to Val Albertson on June 14, 1941, in Sanborn. The couple moved to Springfield following marriage where Val taught rural school and Marie worked as a sales clerk at Peichel's Grocery, Sward-Kemp Drug, Tauer's Grocery and Ben Franklin. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Springfield where she served as Sunday School Superintendent, taught Sunday School and was a member of Ladies Aid. After retirement, Marie continued to serve her church by making religious banners for the sanctuary. She delivered mail to residents of St. John Lutheran Home and loved to cook and bake - her Christmas cookies were outstanding and eagerly anticipated by her husband and children during the holidays. The couple moved to Farmington, MN in 2002 to be closer to their children after spending 61 years in Springfield. Marie enjoyed embroidery, cross-stitch, crossword puzzles and playing cards with friends and family. She also enjoyed family vacations to Canada, Oklahoma, Texas, South Carolina, New Mexico and Virginia, and especially enjoyed a special vacation to Hawaii with her husband. Marie Albertson died Tuesday, December 6, 2005, at Trinity Care Center in Farmington at the age of 84 years. Survivors include husband- Val of Farmington; daughters- Judith and husband Gary May of Prior Lake, and Tami and husband Dale Adams of Bethany, OK; son- Steven and wife Patty Albertson of Albertville, MN; grandchildren- Scott and wife Jennifer May, Michelle and husband Ken Hueser, and Brett and Kyle Albertson; and great grandson- Zachary. She was preceded in death by her parents; 5 sisters; and 5 brothers.
