Marian Johnson

Marian Margaret Johnson was born on December 1, 1946, at the Loretto Hospital in New Ulm, MN, the daughter of John and Regina (Graml) Wunsch. She was raised on a dairy farm near Evan. She attended District #220 country school and St. Mary's in Sleepy Eye. Marian was confirmed on May 21, 1967, at Trinity Lutheran Church and was united in marriage to Lester Johnson on June 10, 1967, at Trinity Lutheran Church. After their marriage the couple spent their entire life farming on the Johnson Century family farm established in 1868 and dairying and taking care of their grandchildren. They were blessed with 4 children and shared 39 years of marriage before Lester passed away on April 15, 2006. Marian also worked at Del Monte, cleaned homes and businesses, and was currently employed by Dashir Management and Trinity Lutheran Church as custodian. She taught Sunday School, delivered Meals on Wheels since 1989 and was the "Sunshine Lady" for Trinity Lutheran Church since 1984. She enjoyed driving John Deere tractors in parades, playing cards, especially with her card groups and her family. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren in sporting events. Her grandchildren were the love of her life. She took great pride being actively involved in her family operation and taking care of animals. She milked cows for three generations of family members, father, husband and son, plus Spring Creek Dairy with her son-in-law after the family sold their cows. Marian was diagnosed with brain cancer in November of 2015. After a valiant battle with cancer, she died from complications. She is survived by her three children; Lee (Judy) Johnson, Julie (Lane) Bode, Joleen (Craig) Dittbenner, all of Sleepy Eye, ten grandchildren; Elizabeth, Katelyn, Ashley & Isaac Johnson, Brandon, Tyler (Kenzie) & Camden Bode, Courtney, Brittney & Destiney Dittbenner. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry (Marie) Wunsch of Sleepy Eye, sister, Rita (Dewey) Gaylord of Fairfax, sisters-in-law, Karen Wunsch of Paynesville and Violet Johnson of Glencoe, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester in 2006, son in infancy, parents, brother, Marvin Wunsch, many brother and sisters-in-law, and a grandson in infancy.
