Maria Cruz

Maria C. Cruz, age 88 of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, formerly of Madelia, Minnesota died on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Sleepy Eye Rehabilitation Center in Sleepy Eye. Visitation will be on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm. The clergy will be Fr. Maria C. (Carrizales) Cruz, the daughter of Antonio and Carmen (Zarate) Carrizales, was born on September 1, 1936, in Brownsville, Texas. She graduated from Sinton High School in Sinton, Texas. Maria was united in marriage to Vicente Cruz. She worked for a number of years at Tony Downs Foods in Madelia where they lived for 35 years. In 2012, Maria and Vicente moved to Sleepy Eye. Maria was a positive and happy person with a heart full of love for others. She lived life to the fullest and would help anyone in need.

Maria is survived by her brother, Daniel Carrizales Sr. of Temple, Texas; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and cherished friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vicente; parents; and sister-in-law, Benita Carrizales.
