Margaret Louise (Anderson) Warling, 71, of St. James, MN, passed away on December 11, 2015, at her home with her husband and children at her side. Margie loved music, reading, and playing cards with her family, especially gin rummy with her son, Darin, and cribbage with her daugher, Meegan. She loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother and found great joy in the children's art projects, music, and athletic events. Mrs. Warling was born October 24, 1944, in Red Wing, Minnesota, to Ralph and Leola (Vos) Anderson. The Anderson family lived in Madelia for a short time prior to moving to St. James in the early 1950s where they owned and operated the Highway Market. After graduating from St. James High School in 1962, Margie attended St. Barnabas Nursing School in Minneapolis. In 1964, she married her husband of 51 years, Dr. James Warling, also of St. James. She was very active in the community and in 1976 became the first woman elected to the St. James City Council, where she served for 12 years. Margie had many friends and was loved for her generosity, intellect, and wit. Margaret is preceded in death by her father, Ralph Anderson, and survived by her mother, Leola Anderson, and loving husband Jim, both of St. James. She is also survived by her son, Darin Warling (and Joleen Emery) of Minneapolis, and daughter, Meegan Warling Schaeffer (David Schaeffer) of Brainerd. Grandchildren include Hannah, Delaney, Noah, Zachary, and Liliana, and extended grandchildren include Jackson, Georgia, Charles, and Teng Xu. She is survived by her siblings, Mary Anne (Kenneth) Hoppe of Mankato, and Brad (Carole) Anderson of St. Paul, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins all over the country. Margaret's final message to her children is the perfect example of how she lived her life: "To my children -- If I had to choose between loving you and breathing… I would use my last breath to tell you that I love you." Margie's husband, children, family, and friends will miss her greatly. Graveside services will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Spring 2016. Interment Information Mt. Hope Cemetery, St. James S. CR 27 St. James, Minnesota, United States 56081 Spring 2016
