Margaret Maggie Oldenburg, age 88, of St. James, died on Thursday, November 03, 2011, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James. Margaret Oldenburg was born July 22, 1923 to Henry and Elma (Grev) Swenstad at the family farm in Albin Township, Brown County. She was raised in Odin and proud to be a full blooded Norwegian. She married Milton Oldenburg on June 22, 1946 in St. James. They operated Skelly Service in LaSalle before moving to St. James where they operated Milt's Standard Service. She also worked as a waitress over her lifetime at various local establishments and was loved by all patrons for her quick wit. She was a faithful Twins fan and loved to watch all types of sports. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and word finds. She was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church, a member of the V.F.W. and Legion Auxiliaries. Margaret passed away on November 3, 2011 at the Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center where she had been a resident since 2004. She is survived by her son, David and his wife, Jane, grandson, Jacob and his wife, Natalie and great-granddaughter, Brenna and grandson Nathan all of St. James, sisters Milly Abelson of Greeneville, TN, Janet Malmgren of Sunburg, MN, brother-in-law John Oldenburg and wife Mary Lou and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Milton in 1984, her son Richard in 1998, brothers Harold and Donald Swenstad and one nephew, Mitchell Malmgren.
