Margaret Joy (Nachreiner) Moe, age 99, of Springfield, passed away May 22, 2023, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Margaret was born on May 9, 1924, to Leo and Viola (Grabinger) Nachreiner in Washburn, North Dakota. In 1936, her parents and 4 siblings relocated to a farm on the Cottonwood River near Springfield, MN. Here she attended and graduated from Springfield High School in 1941. She worked at F & M Market Grocery Store.
Margaret met and married Roy Melvin Moe in June of 1942. Roy then enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served as an airplane mechanic in WWII. Their first son, Kurt, was born in Hondo, TX. After discharge, the family returned to farm in the Springfield area. Bruce and Lonn joined the family, both born in Springfield.
Margaret volunteered her time at St. John's Lutheran Church being in the choir, quilting, and serving circles. She was a long serving member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served as President. Margaret was a passionate gardener and a member of the Springfield Garden Club for many years. For 16 years, she volunteered as an adult leader in the Burnstown Bustlers 4-H Club teaching many young girls sewing skills.
Margaret is survived by her sons - Bruce Moe and his wife, Mary, and Lonn Moe; granddaughters - Renee Moe, Sherri Siekas and husband, Troy, Amanda Moe; grandson - Brian Moe; and great-grandsons - Gavin Siekas and Ayden Moe. She was preceded in death by her husband - Roy Moe; son- Kurt Moe and his wife, Cindy; parents - Leo and Viola Nachreiner; brother - Dale Nachreiner; sisters - Lorraine Kubitza and Francis Everson.
