Margaret Mary Lang was born July 2, 1933, in Carroll, IA to Anton and Margaret (Richert) Meyer. When Margaret was 5, the family lived in rural New Ulm where she attended country school for 7 years.They later moved into New Ulm where she attended St. Mary's Catholic School for 1 year. Margaret was united in marriage to Leo Lang on November 17, 1953. The couple lived on a farm near Springfield until moving into Springfield in October of 1960. Margaret worked at Eibners (now the Ulmer Cafe) in New Ulm, Pietrus and Del Monte in Sleepy Eye, Rainbow Cafe for 24 years, Lang's Meat Market for 33 years, and she was the first woman bus driver in Springfield. She was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield, CCW, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Margaret enjoyed playing cards (especially Sheephead), puzzles, camping, water sports, family vacations, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was well known for her locally famous American and German potato salads! Margaret Mary Lang died Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 83 years. She is survived by husband Leo of Springfield; children- Patrick (Kim) Lang of Springfield, Mary (John) Maas of Sleepy Eye, Suzanne (Ron) Trebesch of Sleepy Eye, Frederick 'Fritz' (Karen) Lang of Springfield, and Christopher Lang of Springfield; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister - Eleanor Marti of New Ulm; and brother - Herman Meyer of Pipestone. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters- Georgine Portner and Lucille Christensen; brothers - Frederick, Robert, Bennard, twin brother Warren, and William; and her faithful companion Max.
