Margaret Kuehl

Margaret Dorothy Sturm was born January 21, 1925 at St. James to parents Max and Kate (Riesenberg) Sturm. She lived on the family farm until the death of her father when the family moved into St. James. She attended rural school at Country School District 65 through the 8th grade and graduated from St. James High School. On June 18, 1947, she was united in marriage to Owen Kuehl at the St. James Catholic Church Parsonage. The couple made their home in St. James. She worked as a bookkeeper for several area business while raising her family. She worked for J.C. Penneys once her children entered school. Owen and Margaret owned and operated Kuehl's Electric from 1971 until her retirement in 1990, where she did the bookkeeping. Margaret was a member of the St. James Catholic Church and was past president of the V.F.W. Auxiliary where she was very active and worked all the dinners held at the V.F.W. for many years. She was especially proud of her grandchildren serving in the military as well as all of those serving their Country. She enjoyed all the neighbors and friends she had at the Homestead Cooperative where she lived. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles. She loved the time she spent with her family and friends especially the time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral homes only, waiting for picture. Margaret Kuehl passed away at St. James Health Services on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, she was 81 years of age. She is preceded in death by her husband, infant daughter Denise, parents, great-grandson Aiden Winch, brothers John, Eddie, Albert, Joe and his wife Madeline, sisters, Mary and her husband Ed Tighe, Josephine and her husband Linden Bartlett, and brother-in-law Leonard Dick. She is survived by her children; David (Susan) Kuehl of Silverdale, WA, Keith (Mary Ann) Kuehl of Winona, Dwight (Betty) Kuehl of St. James, Kevin (Lauree) Kuehl of Trimont, Dawn (Trevor) Nau of St. James, Karen (Joe) Dahl of St. James, sister, Mildred Dick of Madelia, brother, Ervin (Margaret) Sturm of Fairmont, sisters-in-law, Ella Sturm, Martha Sturm and Lorrain Sturm all of St. James, 21 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
