Margaret Ann Holm

Margaret Ann (Sulflow) Holm was born September 1, 1930, and passed away on June 5, 2017. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 17, at 11:00 am at First Lutheran Church in St. James, with Pastor Bob Stover officiating. Margaret was born in Fairmont, MN to Carl and Erna Sulflow. As a young girl, she and her family moved to North Mankato, where she grew up. She graduated from Mankato High School in 1948. After graduation, she worked at National Citizens Bank. On September 20, 1952, she married Raymond Holm and moved to their fourth-generation farm to begin their life together. She and Ray lived and farmed together for over fifty years on the farm, raising four children together. After Ray passed away, she relocated to Homestead Cooperative in St. James, where she currently resided. Margaret was very musical and shared those talents in many ways. Prior to marriage, she was the church organist for St. Paul's Luthern Church in Mankato. She taught piano lessons for many years to numerous students who were the beneficiaries of her talents and patience. She also was very active in her church, including FLCW, numerous circles, teaching Sunday School, and serving in many different leadership capacities. She was active in 4-H with her children and always was willing to serve and volunteer. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ray, her parents, her stepfather, Joe Schmit, her brother-in-law Gerald Willis, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jerry and Arlene Dayton, and infant daughter, Nancy. She is survived by her four children; Tom and Mary of Morris, MN, Dave and Teresa of Ames, IA, Pat and Mark of Neenah, WI, and Mary and Shawn of Bloomington, MN. The love of Margaret's life were her 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is also survived by her sister Gladys Willis of Bettendorf, IA. Margaret had a heart of gold, and will be missed by many. Service Information 11:00 am Saturday, June 17, 2017 First Lutheran Church, St. James 716 6th Ave. S. Fellowship Following the celebration of her life all are invited to gather in the church fellowship hall for lunch and a time of sharing memories.
