Manetta Lydia Penner, age 98, of Mountain Lake, died on December 27, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society in Windom.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake. Funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 1:00 pm. The clergy will be Rev. Rick Bremseth . Interment will be at Mountain Lake City Cemetery. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Mountain Lake. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.
Manetta Lydia Pfeil, the daughter of Otto and Clara Pfeil, was born on May 27, 1926, at home in Truman, Minnesota. She was baptized on June 6, 1926, at St. Paul''s Lutheran Church in Truman and confirmed her faith on March 17, 1940, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ormsby, Minnesota.
Manetta attended country school in Martin County, Minnesota. She married Clarence Penner on July 7, 1946, at St. Paul''s Ev. Lutheran Church in Saint James, Minnesota. Clarence and Manetta made their home in Baltimore, Maryland while Clarence finished his service in the US Army. Manetta spent her time working at S.S. Kresge Variety Store.
Clarence and Manetta moved to Mountain Lake, Minnesota in December of 1946, and purchased a Penner family farm north of town. The couple joined Trinity Lutheran Church of Mountain Lake becoming lifelong members. Manetta especially looked forward to Sunday morning bible study and was an active member of the Lutheran Women''s Missionary League. She had a servant''s heart and could be found helping out in the kitchen serving her delicious baked goods. She also enjoyed relaxing on the deck at home and riding in the golf cart.
Clarence and Manetta farmed for 28 years moving into town in 1975. The couple enjoyed travel, making several trips to Europe and throughout the United States. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Manetta entered the Good Samaritan Home in Windom on December 10, 2024, and passed away December 27, 2024. Blessed be her memory.
Manetta is survived by her daughter, Sherrie Penner of Mountain Lake; grandson, Travis (Robyn) Henning and their children, Mason and Madison; son, Steven (Marsha) Penner and family; sister, DeLoris Leifermann; and nieces and nephews.
Manetta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; daughter, Julie Ann Penner; brother, Marland Pfeil; sister, Lorraine Peters; brothers-in-law, Douglas Leifermann and Daryl Peters; and grandson, Joseph Henning.
