Linda Holland, age 90, of Mason City, IA, formerly of St. James, died on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Unit in Mason City, Iowa. Funeral services will be 11am, Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Zion Lutheran Church in Odin with Rev. Carla Reierson officiating. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Odin. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James from 4pm to 7pm and one hour before services at the church on Thursday. Malinda Eleanor Alma Nibbe was born on the family farm near Darfur, MN, the youngest of 9 children to parents William Amanda (Jasper) Nibbe. She grew up and attended rural school near Darfur. She graduated from Butterfield High School. On September 23, 1943, she was united in marriage to Alfred Holland in Darfur. The couple made their home on the family farm near Butterfield where they raised their family. Linda lived on the farm until Alfred's death in 1983, when she moved to St. James where she did babysitting for many years. In 2007, she moved to Mason City, Iowas to be closer to her family. She enjoyed playing cards, watching the Twins, and participating in family celebrations. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their dogs. She is survived by her children; Barb Lauen her husband Harry Lundis of Emmons, Bob (Shirley) Holland of Woodbury, Paula (Peter) Halverson of Ventura, IA, sister; Esther Jacobson of St. James, grandchildren; Tracy (Marc) Erickson of Emmons, Sherri Lauen of Minneapolis, Andrew (Heather) Lauen of Lake Mills, IA, Andrea (Russell) Turner of Atlanta, GA, Heather Holland and her husband Darren Fagan of Atlanta, GA, Matthew Halverson of Longmont, CO, Amanda Halverson of St. Paul, Brittany (Rudy) Chihak of Orlando, FL, 8 great-grandchildren; Ashley (Andrew) Yost, Amber Erickson, Matthew Erickson, Autumn Lauen, Summer Lauen, Davis Snider, Lindsey Turner, Holland Fagan, and a great-great-grandson; Trey Yost, many nieces, nephews and special friends Phil, Cris, Veronica, Cristian, Mattie Maher of Milwaukee, WI. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandson Andrew, great-grandson McCale and 7 brothers and sisters. Memorial may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church.
