Mae Margaret Schroeder was born on February 12, 1915 in Sleepy Eye, MN, the daughter of Robert and Mathilda Margaret (Armstrong) Patterson. She grew up in Sleepy Eye and graduated from Sleepy Eye High School in 1933. Mae married John J. Schroeder on June 20, 1938 in Sleepy Eye. She worked cleaning homes while in high school and later at Doeltz and Sheridan Drug and also at Del Monte seasonally. She was a member of St. Mary''s Catholic Church, St. Rita Study Club, Forrester''s and the Degree of Honor Society. Mae loved reading, watching the MN Twins, and traveling. When she was younger she enjoyed roller skating and traveled to Europe and all states except Alaska. She spent winters in Arizona where she enjoyed walking and teaching water aerobics. She especially loved family gatherings, having the grandchildren spend time at her home during the summers, Chocolate and Hot Fudge Sundays. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the special loves of her life. She is survived by her children, Clem (Cindy) Schroeder of Worthington, MN and Steve (Brenda) Schroeder of Mendota, IL, daughter-in-law, Lee Anne Schroeder of Brookings, SD, 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, sisters, Donna Bielen of Springfield, MN, Annice Frovick of Pocatello, ID and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, son, Ronald, brothers, Harold, Bruce, Bob, Kenneth and Raymond and sisters, Gladys, Lucille and Grace.
