Mae Lillian Laingen was born to Ole and Ida (Strand) Olson on January 12, 1919 in Lake Hanska Township, Brown County. She was baptized and confirmed at Lake Hanska Lutheran Church. Mae graduated from Hanska High School in 1938. She was united in marriage to Ellsworth Laingen in the Little Brown Church in Nassau, Iowa on December 22, 1938. Mae and Ellsworth lived on a farm in Linden Township for much of their lives. Mae had a great passion for flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed walking and playing card games. Mae loved baking, especially making and selling lefse. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Madelia and was active in the quilting group. Her faith in God made her a strong person. Mae is survived by her 3 daughters, Ethel (Robert) Schultz of Madelia, Pat (Ellis) Jones of Shakopee, Caryn McLean (Olav Thormodson) of Madelia; grandchildren Tom (Rebecca), Terese (Kent), Scott (Diane), Lisa (Craig), Tony, Todd, and Tammy (Les); 9 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marge Laingen and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her, parents; loving husband, Ellsworth; daughter, Betty; 4 sons-in-law; grandson, Steven; brothers, Paul and Arthur; sisters, Irene and Evelyn.
