Mabel Rempel

January 6, 1916 — December 3, 2007

Mabel Hooge, the daughter of Peter and Helena (Faust) Hooge was born on January 6, 1916 at Delft, MN. She received her education in the public school in Delft and the Mountain Lake German School in Mountain Lake, MN. Mabel was baptized upon confession of her faith at the Mennonite Brethren Church (now Community Bible Church) in Mountain Lake. On February 28, 1940, Mabel was united in marriage to Henry E. Rempel in Mountain Lake. They made their home and farmed together in the Delft and Mountain Lake area before moving to their farm home in Carson Township northwest of Mountain Lake in 1949. They remained on this farm until retiring in Mountain Lake in 1978. Mabel enjoyed cooking, sewing, embroidery and crocheting, gardening and entertaining guests. She was active in her church and volunteered at the Care Share in Mountain Lake. They attended the Carson Mennonite Brethren Church in Delft until it closed. In September 2006, Mabel entered the Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake where she died on Monday evening, December 3, 2007, at the age of 91. Mabel is survived by her husband, Henry Rempel of Mountain Lake; four children, Stanley Rempel and his wife Judy of Mountain Lake, Merrill Rempel and his wife Minna of Olathe, KS, Calvin Rempel and his wife Jennifer of Mountain Lake, and LaVerda Knott and her husband Kirk of Maple Grove, MN; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
