Mabel Pauling

Mabel 'Mae' Emma Anna Pauling was born March 2, 1908 in Paullina, IA, the daughter of William and Anna (Koch) Klunder. She was raised in Paullina and was united in marriage to Edwin Pauling on February 1, 1927 at the Germantown Lutheran Parsonage. Following marriage, they moved to Minnesota and farmed in Charlestown Township. After selling their farm, they moved into Lamberton, built a new house and opened the Lamberton Pool Hall. After the sale of the pool hall, Mae worked for Dr. Connor's Dentistry for several years. Mae was a longtime member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and enjoyed volunteering at Valley View Manor. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening, square-dancing, playing cards, and spending time with her family. Mabel 'Mae' Pauling died Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at Valley View Manor at the age of 96 years. Survivors include son- Weber and wife Dorothy Pauling of Shoreview, MN; daughters- Bonnie and husband Ray Johnson of Revere, MN, LaDonna and husband Dale Bishir of South Haven, MN, and Sandra and husband Phill Sharpof Orr, MN; 16 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 4 great, great grandchildren; sister- Elsie Mews of Dearborn, MI; special friends and neighbors- Sue and Pat Butler; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edwin in 1996; brothers- Richard, Ray and Roy Klunder; and sisters- Lillian Tesch, Nora Walters, Vie Hammon, and Verna Knuth.
