Lylla Philomena Lowinske was born on May 28, 1929 on the family farm near Sleepy Eye, MN, the daughter of John Veronica (Grabinger) Dietz. She grew up and attended school in the Sleepy Eye area and also in Lamberton. She returned to Sleepy Eye with her family and worked at Del Monte and Pietrus Produce. Lylla married Leonard Lowinske on April 16, 1952 in Sleepy Eye, MN. Lylla started her own ceramics business making, selling and giving classes. She also operated her own greenhouse for a few years in Sleepy Eye. Lylla was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. She enjoyed ceramics, fishing, sewing and visiting with family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Leonard of Sleepy Eye, three sisters, Stella (Alvin) Sellner of Sleepy Eye, Shirley (Cliff) Rasmussen of Hector and Marjorie (Ben) Zieske of St. Peter. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Lylla was preceded in death by her parents, John and Veronica Dietz.
