Graveside Service: 11:00am, Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. James Lyle Stauffer, age 69, died on Sunday, June 12, 2011, at the Minnesota Vetern's Home in Luverne. Lyle Jesse Stauffer was born in St. James, MN, on February 5, 1942, the son of Jesse and Bernice (Syverson) Stauffer. Lyle grew up in St. James and he graduated from St. James High School. He delivered newspapers during his school years to earn extra money. After high school Lyle joined the Navy and served during Korea. Lyle lived in the Twin Cities and worked as a machinist for Dayton-Rogers Manufacturing until his retirement. Following his retirement he made his home in the Twin Cities, Owatonna and St. James. In December 2006, he moved to Luverne and made his home at the Minnesota Veteran's Home. Lyle enjoyed hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities. He and his dog Hooper loved to take long walks. Lyle also enjoyed pull tabs. He is survived by his children, John Stauffer of Blaine, Jody Stauffer of Willmar, Jamie Stauffer of Blaine, sister, Betty Ehret of New Ulm, brother, Brad (Becky) Stauffer of St. James, and sister-in-law, Virgene Stauffer of Sleepy Eye. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Tom, grandparents and his children's mother Penny Carlson.
