Lydia Jeske

July 31, 1921 — April 15, 2021

Lydia Evelyn Jeske was born July 31, 1921 to Albert and Hedwig "Hattie" (Winkelmann) Schwartz on the family farm in Northstar Township, Brown County, MN. She attended School District 78 and graduated from Springfield High School. After graduating she was a bookkeeper at the Farmer's Creamery and Schward-Kemp Drug in Springfield. On February 17, 1947, Lydia was united in marriage to Frank Jeske at her parent's home. The couple raised two sons - Ronald and Douglas. Lydia enjoyed handwork - especially cross stitch making many quilts, blankets and pictures, playing cards and she bowled for many years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was active in the Church Council and the Mary Magdalene Circle, she also was active at St. John Lutheran Home serving on the Auxiliary Board, Board of Directors and the Foundation Board, she also volunteered many hours at the nursing home. In 2015 Lydia moved to The Maples and in 2019 she became a resident at St. John Lutheran Home. Lydia died on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at St. John Lutheran Home at the age of 99. She is survived by her son Doug Jeske (special friend Judy Augustin) of Springfield; daughter-in-law Nancy Jeske of Melrose; 5 grandchildren - Alyssa, Amber, John, Adrea, and Robert; and 10 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Frank in 1982; and son Ron in 2014.
