Lydia Hillesheim

Lydia was born to John Theresa (Hoffman) Nachreiner on March 7, 1916 in Springfield. Lydia married Arthur Hillesheim on September 9, 1936 at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield. They farmed their 50 years of marriage in Leavenworth Township. She remained on the farm until August 2008 when she moved in with her daughter and son-in-law until November of 2011. She will always be remembered as a most religious person, placing God and prayer first in her life. She had a great devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. She worked side by side with her husband in the fields and the dairy operation, contained her large chicken flock and sold eggs, and raised a large acre meticulous vegetable garden. She particularly loved her birthday parties when her kids, grandkids, great and great-great grandkids attended. She is survived by sons, Eugene (Michaeline) of Mankato, Clement (Mary) of Springfield, daughter, Gladys (Leon) Scherer of Sleepy Eye, 10 grandchildren, Rachel (Jamie) Fruhwirth, Joan (Scott) Jones, Andrew (Shelley), Efren fiance Crystal Goblirsch, Tina, Benjamin, Justin, Brittany, Ryan Scherer friend Denise Zimmerman, Erin (Josef) DeRosa, 10 great grandchildren, Nicholas Fruhwirth friend Ashley Clark, Jay (Ciarra) Fruhwirth, Baly Fruhwirth, Megan and Alissa Jones, Michael, Allison, Nicole, Scarlett, Kyra Scherer, 5 great-great grandchildren, Oliver, Jackson, Anica Fruhwirth, Owen Fruhwirth, Tilken Fruhwirth, sister, Leona Sellner of Sleepy Eye, sister-in-law, Odilia Hillesheim of Leavenworth and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur in 1986, great-great granddaughter Jaspora Fruhwirth, brothers, Hugo, Roman, Leo, Walter, sisters, Helen Mathiowetz, Ottilia Haala, Rose Mathiowetz and baby sister Theresa.
