Lula Margaret Fleming

Lula Fleming age 91, of Madelia, MN died on September 12, 2023, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato, MN.

Visitation will be on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home, Pilgrim Chapel.

A private interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Madelia at a later date.

Lula (Rollings) Fleming was born April 28, 1932 at Madison Lake, MN to Tom and Amelia (Schickling) Rollings.  She attended grade school at Cleveland, MN and Blue Earth County District #20.  Lula graduated from high school at Garden City and attended Mankato State University.  She taught 5th grade at Sleepy Eye and Winnebago schools.  Lula married Darrell Fleming in 1955 and moved to the Madelia-Hanska area.  She was a 4H leader, Sunday School teacher and a member of the United Methodist Church, Madelia.  She sang in the choir and was a member of the United Methodist Women.  Lula was a charter member of the Prairie Star Quilters and enjoyed teaching quilting; she also enjoyed flower gardening, bird watching, scrap booking and reading.

Lula is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Dawn and Jim Peterson of Glencoe, MN, Rachel and Kim McAuliffe of Ft. Collins, CO, Gwen and Jeff Barnes of Apex, N.C; two sons, David and Pat Fleming, and Dean Fleming, all of Madelia; grandchildren, Becky Peterson, Laura and Calvin Fleming, Katie (Grossman), Kelsey and Corey McAuliffe, Griffin and Evan Barnes; three great-grandchildren, Mason Fleming, McKenzie and Benjamin Grossman.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Fleming; grandson, Tyler Peterson; parents, Thomas and Amelia Rollings; sisters, Beatrice Lloyd, Marcella Hobson and brothers, Orville, Eugene and Wilber Rollings.
