Luetta Maxine Bottem, age 84, of St. James died on Sunday, July 1, 2012, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James surrounded by her loved ones. Funeral services will be 10:30am, Friday, July 6, 2012, at Albion Lutheran Church of rural St. James with Rev. Robert Springer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James on Thursday from 4:30pm until 7:30pm and at the church an hour before services on Friday. She was born Feb. 26, 1928 in St. James, MN to Albin and Irene (Lundstrom) Berggren. She graduated from St. James High School in 1946. On June 5, 1953, she married Telford Bottem at the Augustana Lutheran Church in St. James. They farmed in Albin Township, Brown County until they retired in 1983 and moved to St. James. Luetta was a wife, mother and homemaker. She was very active at Albion Lutheran Church as a Sunday School teacher, church secretary, stitched quilts and held various offices for the Albion Church woman's group. She was a bookkeeper at Godahl Store for many years. Her hobbies consisted of bowling, fishing, crossword puzzles and playing solitaire on the computer. She also loved going on trips. Luetta is survived by four daughters and one son: Marilynn (Brian) Hesse of Windermere, FL, Laurie (Dean) Swenstad of St. James, MN, Carole (Brian) Olson of Circle Pines, MN, Dayle (Jill) Bottem of St. James, MN and Diane Aden and special friend Steve Ludwig of Mankato, MN. Her 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren were her joy: Matthew (Sarah Kadence), Tennille (Bob, Victoria, Jason Vanessa), Jacob (Tina Lily), Heather (Jeremy, Austin Ava), Melanie (Heath Kael), Ashley (Brian), Timothy, Darcie, Emily, Kelsey and Miranda. Also surviving are her brother sister in laws: Leland Pearson, Kenneth Mieko Bottem, Arnold Delores Bottem and many nieces and nephews, friends and relatives. Her husband, Telford preceded her in death in 1991 as well as her sister and brother-in-law Dolores and Milton Lindquist and sister-in-law Ruth (Bottem) Pearson and her parents.
