Luella Anna Stradtman

Luella Anna Sternberg was born April 20, 1931 on the farm near South Branch to parents Walter and Lydia (Niemeier) Sternberg. Luella grew up in the South Branch area and graduated from St. James High School. On June 29, 1952, she was united in marriage to Roland Stradtman. The couple made their home and raised their family in the South Branch area. Luella was a lifelong member at St. Johns Lutheran Church of South Branch. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and did quilting at the church. Family was the center of her life. She loved to take care of her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren. She was famous for her chocolate chip cookies. At every family gathering she went home with an empty container. She loved gardening, quilting and doing jigsaw puzzles. She is survived by her children; Debra (Neal) Belgard, Jill (Brad) Viland and Brian (Carol) Stradtman all of the St. James area. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren; Courtney (Chris) Studer, Luke (Becky) Belgard, Caleb Belgard, Darren (Maren) Viland, Suzanne (Paul) Norie, Lindsey (Luke) Bowers, Brandon (Amy) Viland, Jordan Viland (Becca Kocher), Travis (Karen) Hultgren, Cyle Stradtman (Nicole Osborne), Anna (Ethan) Curry, 20 great-grandchildren, sisters; Marjorie (Carl) Vogt of Truman, Marlys (Kent) Kloepping of Tucson, AZ and a brother-in-law & sister-in-law Charles (Jean) Stradtman of St. James. She is preceded in death by her husband, infant daughter, parents, sister and brothers-in-law; Vernelle (Henry) Kohn and Willard (Angeline) Stradtman.
