Luella Catherine Schofield, age 94, passed away on January 18, 2023, at her home in Madelia, Minnesota.
Luella Catherine (Anderson) Schofield was born on November 24, 1928 on the family farm in rural Madelia, Minnesota to Herman and Marie (Ask) Anderson. Luella attended Madelia Public Schools and was in the graduating class of 1947. She was also an active member of the former First Baptist Church, in Madelia. After high school, Luella continued farm work with her parents, until meeting Curtis Schofield while roller-skating in Truman, Minnesota. Luella and Curtis were married on November 11, 1950 at the First Lutheran Church, in Madelia. This union blessed them with four children.
Luella was very involved in her church. She was a Sunday School teacher, member of the church choir, and attended many other church related activities. She also enjoyed gardening where she grew beautiful flowers, and abundant fruits and vegetables. She often baked and canned with her garden goods, and would share them with others. Luella loved animals of all kinds, having a deep love of her cats, sheep, and other animals on the farm. She always made sure her animals were happy and well taken care of.
Luella and Curtis shared over forty loving years together. They spent much of this time growing their farm, and their family. They often visited with their extended family in Minnesota and Wisconsin, granting their four children a multitude of wonderful memories with their cousins and community. Family, faith, and friends were always at the core Luella's continued loving spirit.
Left to cherish her everlasting memory are her children, Gail (Mark) Stark, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Thomas (Karen) Schofield, of Alexandria, Minnesota, Kathy (Shane Broughten) Schofield, of Madelia, Minnesota, and Donald (Staci) Schofield, of Merrill, Wisconsin; grandkids, Sarah (Rusty) Blumer, Nicole (Jason) Schottmiller, Mari (Dave) Hueber, James (Ashlyn Christensen) Stark, Jonathan Schofield, Joel (Samantha) Schofield, Erin Knewtson, Andy (Vanessa) Knewtson, Mike Knewtson; great grandkids, Wayne, Levi, Loki, Asher, Hintin, Christian, Carter, Kira, Ella, Lincoln, Avery, Charlie, Adelynn, Emmalee; brother, Herman (Betty) Anderson, Jr., of Madelia; sisters in law, Elfriede Anderson, and Marlys Johnson, of Madelia; and many other friends and relatives.
Preceding Luella in death are her parents, Herman (H.R.) and Marie Anderson; husband, Curtis; four brothers, Bernhard, Garland, Gordon, Arden; three sisters, Orda Tronrud, Myrtle Tronrud, and Hilma Kelly.
Luella will be fondly remembered by countless friends, family, and church members. Her pets will also miss her dearly! She touched the lives of many with her unwavering faith, open arms, and wonderful laugh. This world has lost a wonderful gift, but heaven has gained a timeless treasure!
Visitation and reception will be on Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Bethel Church, Madelia. Service will be held at the Bethel Church, Madelia, on
Saturday at 1:00 pm. The clergy will be Pastor Ron Hanson. Interment will be at the Nashville Cemetery in Truman, Minnesota.
