Lucille Orth

God in His goodness granted Lucille a peaceful rest knowing Jesus as her Savior. Heaven is now her home and eternal joy is hers. Her life was spent willingly serving the Lord by being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Many will remember her for the kindness and love she showed to them. She welcomed family and friends to her home with wonderful baked treats and her bountiful garden supplied many. She enjoyed embroidery, knitting and sewing, and these gifts were loved by all. Her smile and laughter will long be remembered. Lucille Marie (Brandel) Orth was born January 16, 1920 to George Martha (Hodapp) Brandel in Granville, IA. She was baptized Jan. 18, 1920 at Sacred Heart Church in Dubuque, IA. Her confirmation took place just before her marriage to Herbert Paul Orth on February 18, 1946. They lived their lives together on the home farm near Essig. He preceded her in death in 1993. Lucille Orth, age 88, of Sleepy Eye, died Monday, February 25, 2008 at St. Peter Grandview Good Samaritan. She is survived by her children, Marilyn Orth of Wonewoc, WI; Diane (Nick) Roman of Mankato; Robert (Maribeth) Orth of Sleepy Eye; grandchildren great-grandchildren; Jeremy Roman (Braydon) of Las Vegas, Michael Angela Roman (Shelby Amber) of Pierre, SD, Aaron Anne Roman- Flatau (Zachary, Carter Katelyn) of Mankato, Brian Lisa Orth of Inver Grove Heights, Christopher Cari Orth of Kirkwood, MO, Jennifer, Benjamin Jessica Orth of Sleepy Eye; brothers, Vincent (Lucille) Brandel of Sleepy Eye, Harold (Marlys) Brandel of New Ulm and Jerome (Vivian) Brandel of South St. Paul. In-laws include Alvin Selma Resoft of Eyota and Elvera Orth of Mankato. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Herbert and sister, Mildred in 1938. She will be missed by her family, friends, St. John's Congregation and the entire Christian Church on earth. We look forward to being reunited with her in heaven.
