Lucille Martius

Lucille Friederica Martha Martius was born July 24, 1922, at her parent's, Hugo and Martha (Schmidt) Kranz, home in Brookville Township. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Lucille attended District 34 school and was united in marriage to Wilbert Martius on December 17, 1942, again at her parent's home. The couple farmed near Springfield and Sanborn, and Lucille worked at the Springfield Nursing Home. They moved to Winona in 1961, where Lucille worked as a housekeeper. They returned to Springfield in 1986, and Lucille bacame a resident of St. John Lutheran Home in February of 2000. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and enjoyed dancing, polka music, and visiting with friends and family. Lucille Martha Martius died Saturday, October 11, 2008, at St. John Lutheran Home at the age of 86 years. She is survived by daughter- JoAnn and husband Gary Junker of Comfrey; granddaughters- Linda (Jim) Darkow of Sioux Falls, SD, and Susan (Gary) Shankman of Olympia, WA; grandson- Steven (Paula) Junker of Comfrey; great-grandchildren- Amanda Darkow, Andrew Darkow, Alexander Shankman, Kristofer Shankman, and Sarah Junker; sister- Shirley and husband Gerald Moll of Apache Junction, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Wilbert in 1998; sisters- Esther Timm, Dailia Klabunde, Clara Klabunde, and Viola Hansen; and brothers- Marvin and Raymond Kranz.
