Lucille Eischen

October 2, 1919 — February 5, 2011

Lucille Frances Eischen was born on October 2, 1919 at their home in rural Morgan, MN. She was the fourth of eleven children. Lucille attended country school for 5 years and St. Michael's Catholic School for 3 years. After graduating from 8th grade Lucille helped neighbor ladies with their housework and children. She was employed at Morgan Grocery and then bought Mrs. Adam's Dress Shop. Lucille married Bernard Eischen on April 4, 1951 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Morgan. They settled on a farm west of Comfrey and Lucille was a homemaker, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great grandmother, plus an aunt to a multitude of nieces and nephews. Three delicious meals a day, exactly on time. Gardening, cooking, baking, crocheting, quilting were her specialties. With her strength and support, Bernard was able to continue a strong farming business. She taught her daughter how to sing when you work and with example, showed wisdom to her grandchildren. She was always ready to play marble games or Kings in the Corner. She was active in St. Paul Catholic Church. She held leadership positions in St. Paul's CCW. She organized and co chaired the "Food Stand" for Comfrey Hospital Days. Lucille entered St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield in December of 2007. She continued teasing, laughing, and waving with a twinkle in her eye until her last breath. Lucille died on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 91 years. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law - Gail and Craig Rients of Lakefield, MN; grandchildren - Jesse and wife Annie Rients of Shakopee, Nicholas and wife Rachelle Rients of Comfrey and their children Dominick and Taylor, Anthony Rients and fiance Emily Stevenson of Lakefield, and Patrick Rients of Lakefield; brothers - Raymond and wife Lorraine Kerkhoff of Morgan and Glenn and wife Arlene Kerkhoff of Morgan; sister - Verna Mertz of Morgan; sisters-in-law - Mary Ann Kerkhoff, Frances Kerkhoff, Betty and husband Roman Zwaschka, Evelyn Eischen, and Lorrie Eischen; and a brother-in-law - Philip Wenner; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents - Bernard and Theresia Kerkhoff; husband - Bernard; daughter - Theresia; sisters - Rosella Anderson, Eileen Brown, and Delores Wenner; and brothers - Bernard, Harold, Dalbert and Herbert. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church, St. John Lutheran Home, or Redwood Hospice.
