Lowell Johnson

Lowell Dennis Johnson was born February 24, 1922, in Bashaw Township, Brown County, the son of Willard and Ella (Stark) Johnson. He graduated from Comfrey High School in 1940. Lowell was united in marriage to Marie Marz on September 15, 1945, at the Salem Lutheran Parsonage. The couple farmed in Bashaw Township until moving to Springfield in 2002. Lowell was a lifetime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Comfrey and served on the church board, the Comfrey School Board for 6 years, the Comfrey Creamery Board for 15 years, AMPI Board for 7 years, and the St. John Lutheran Home Board for 6 years. He enjoyed farming, milking cows, traveling, dancing, eating out, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Lowell Dennis Johnson died Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 86 years. Survivors include son- Barry and wife Barb of Red Wing, MN; and grandchildren- Traci and husband Jeff Sonju of Red Wing and their children Madeline, Kate and Lillie, Nicole and husband Jason Burow of Red Wing and their children Jake and Emily, and Kriste and husband Nate Cheeley of St. Michael, MN and their son Brody. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife- Marie in August of 2008.
