Lowell Halvorson

Lowell Edwin Halvorson Sr. was born April 3, 1928 in Lamberton, MN, the son of Theodore and Bertha (Blank) Halvorson. He attended country school near Lamberton. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 until 1953. On June 9, 1953 Lowell was united in marriage to Minnie Swede Vogel at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield. The couple lived in Springfield and raised 5 children. In May of 1975 Minnie died. Lowell married Florence Pauling on January 22, 1983 at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield. Lowell had worked for Wenisch Hardware as a Repair Man, the Springfield Medical Center, and Barron's Fabrication. He enjoyed Concertina Music, spending time with family and friends, eating Bullheads, golfing, and playing cards. Lowell died on Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at his home in Springfield at the age of 77 years. He is survived by his wife - Florence (Pauling) Halvorson of Springfield; children - Connie and husband Wayne Augustin of Springfield, Dean and wife Rachelle Halvorson of Springfield, Roxanne Bjonfald and special friend - Jeff Mumm of Franklin, Ted Halvorson and special friend - Annie Richert of Springfield, and Renee Hellinger and a special friend of Washington; step children - Dennis and wife Jan Pauling of Granite Falls, Don and wife Ruth Pauling of Storden, Dahlen and wife Janelle Pauling of Montevideo, Dan and wife Kelly Pauling of Hanksa, Loretta Kruse of Minneapolis, Lorraine Weber of Storden, and LuAnn and husband Lee Ryker of Jeffers; 30 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; brothers - Luvern and Vernette Halvorson of Springfield, Duane and Dee Halvorson of Kentucky, Jerome and Betty Halvorson of California, and Kenneth and Nana Halvorson of Kansas; sisters - Lucille Burt of Arkansas, Arlene and Win Templeton of Two Harbors, MN, and Marion and Jim Jenson of Sanborn; and a sisters-in-law - Dolores Halvorson of Washington and Lynette Halvorson of Kentucky. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife - Minnie Swede a son - Lowell Halvorson Jr; brothers - Gordon Halvorson and Dale Halvorson; brothers-in-law - Les Detlefsen, Wayne Burt, and Mike Teicher.
