Lowell Arnold Bloomquist

Lowell Bloomquist passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health System – Mankato, he was 80. Lowell Arnold Bloomquist was born October 30, 1937 at a farmhouse in Watonwan County. Lowell was the son of Arnold and Bertha (Noren) Bloomquist, the youngest of 7 children, affectionately called, Little Lowelley. He attended country school District 36 and graduated from St. James High School in 1955. He was united in marriage to Janet Roiger on September 21, 1963. They shared 55 years together and were blessed with 3 children, Terry (Kristy) Bloomquist of LaSalle, Jodi (Jeff) Egeland of North Mankato, and Kari (Chad) Colby of Waconia. Lowell served on the East Sveadahl Church counsel, cemetery board, President of The Fraternal Order of Eagles from 1994-1995, and he was dedicated to the LaSalle Fire Department for 22 years. He worked his entire career as a heavy equipment operator for H&B construction and eventually became owner. Lowell had a love for children and continued to drive school bus after retirement. He is well known on the streets of LaSalle as The Candyman, who put many miles of memories walking and biking every day. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially in the fall when most of his time was spent hunting, fishing and cheering on the Vikings. He also found joy in spending time with his family and friends with many memories of camping up North. Lowell will be remembered for his loving, but stubborn personality and sense of humor, which continued up until his last hour. Lowell will be missed greatly by those who loved him most. Lowell is survived by his wife Janet Bloomquist, children; Terry (Kristy) Bloomquist of LaSalle, Jodi (Jeff) Egeland of North Mankato, Kari (Chad) Colby of Waconia, sister Eunice Wiken of St. James, grandchildren; Brittany (Anthony) Lenz of St. James, Braeden Egeland & Anna Egeland of North Mankato, Emersyn Colby & James Colby of Waconia, sisters-in-law; Bernette Bloomquist of Estherville, IA, Caroline Bloomquist of Madelia, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
