Louise Annette (Minnie) Garner was born January 4, 1939 in beautiful Sombra, Ontario. When she was 6 six years old, Louise, her mother and brother moved from her grandfather Maurice C. Minnie's home in Canada to Sanborn, MN. She attended Sanborn High School and Dr Martin Luther High school in New Ulm. On September 29, 1956, she married Elverne Garner. They spent their lives together in St James, with the exception of a short time spent in Fort Hood, TX where Elverne was stationed in the army and where their twin daughters, Cathy and Cindy were born. She and Elverne were blessed with 5 girls. She was happy to be able to stay at home and nurture them when they were young. Later she was employed as a teacher's aide at the Madelia Child Development Center for 10 years and then as a family based worker at Watonwan County Services from 1985 until her retirement in 2003. She had a wondrous love for her Savior, her family, and her friends. She also had a special love to help out anyone in need. She was a dedicated and faithful servant of her Lord in many ways including leadership in her church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, sang, and lead Bible studies. She worked on the board with St. James Area Christian Women. She was always ready to help and joyfully give her testimony of God's love and salvation with the fervent desire that everyone should know the Savior, Jesus. Lou survived a liver transplant, battled colon cancer and has now gone home to be with the one who saved her and has prepared a glorious place for her. She is survived by her husband, Elverne of almost 57 years, her daughters, Cathy Meyer and husband Reuben of Grogan, MN and their children, David Meyer (Nicole) of Mt.
