Service will be held at a later date. Lorine "Rene" Potter was born on April 21, 1926 to Horace (H.L.) and Erma (Nelson) Macnamara in Minneapolis. Her family moved to Willmar when she was a young girl. After graduating from Willmar High School, she attended Hamline University for 2 years. In October of 1947, Rene was united in marriage to Vernon "Bud" Potter in Willmar. The couple moved to Springfield where they owned and operated Potter's West Side Auto with Bud's father Wayne and brother Warren. They later were in partnership with their son Jack. Rene and Bud hosted foreign exchange students over the years. Eliseo (Macring) Aurellado, Philippines and Gudrun Arning, Germany maintain contact with the family. Rene was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Springfield Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, cross-stitch, and birthday club. Rene died on Monday, March 30, 2020, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN at the age of 93. She is survived by her children - Jo Ann (Steve) Erbes of Apple Valley, James (Denise) Potter of Albany, Jeff (Sheila) Potter of Omaha, NE, and Jack (Ann) Potter of Monticello; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and siblings - Wes (Carol) Macnamara of Lakeville, MN. and Mary Kuhr of Phoenix, AZ. Rene was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother Burnett Macnamara; husband Vernon "Bud" Potter; and brothers - H. Larry and G. Robert Macnamara. Memorials may be sent in Rene's name to St John Lutheran Home 201 S Co. Rd. 5 in Springfield, MN 56087.
