Loren Eugene Green was born June 21,1930 at Mountain Lake Hospital to Winfield Gladys Nichols Green. He attended Country School and graduated from Mountain Lake Public school in 1949. After high school he attended Prairie Bible Institute until April 1952. On May 15, 1952 Loren married Darlene Ruth Riemersma. Following their marriage he worked for Archer Daniels, hauling flax straw. January 1945 he returned to Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada and graduated April 1955. Loren and Darlene returned to Mountain Lake where he worked for Aaron Buhler. That fall they moved to Billings, Montana where he worked in building construction and as a Singer Sewing Machine salesman. While in Billings, they helped establish the Missionary Alliance Church. In 1958, they moved to Livingston, Montana where Loren managed a Singer Sewing Center. Christmas of 1960 they moved back to MN and Loren worked at the Montgomery Wards in Worthington. In May of 1962, Loren moved his family to a farm south of Storden where he farmed and worked in building construction. The summer of 1969 the family moved into Storden. Loren continued to farm, work for a local feed mill, drive school bus and manage the Storden Bowling alley. In October 1988 Loren and Darlene moved back to Mt. Lake where Loren worked for several farmers. In the early 1990's he helped build the addition to the Alliance Missionary church. After construction, he continued working for the church as custodian. He also worked for Heiberts Greenhouse, drove school bus for Mountain Lake Christian School and owned several rental properties in Mountain Lake. Loren was devoted to his family, friends and church. He was always busy helping someone. At church he was always there to usher. And, he always had a smile for everyone he met. The past several years Loren and Darlene enjoyed traveling, especially going to visit family and friends. On July 10, 2009, Loren passed away while on vacation in Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Winfield and Gladys Green and brother-in-law Robert McDonald. Loren is survived by his loving wife Darlene of Mountain Lake and 8 children, Mary (Jim) Westerman of Storden, MN, Ruth (Allen) Narveson of Russellville, AR, Jim (Debra) Green of Janesville, MN, Bob (Nancy) Green of Mankato, MN, Rebecca Green of Saint Paul, MN, David (Judy) Green of Mountain Lake MN, Jeffery Green of Mankato, MN, Kelli (Mike) Shattuck of South Saint Paul, MN, thirty grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, sisters Dorothy (Alvin) Schmidt of Mountain Lake, MN and Glenys McDonald of Holland, TX, brothers Wayne (Margaret) Green of Butterfield, MN and Robert (Muriel) Green of Anaheim, CA.
