Loren A. Feil, 91, Mountain Lake, MN died Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Good Samaritan Village, Mountain Lake. Memorial service will be held Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mountain Lake at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 12:00 PM on Saturday and continue until the time of service. Interment will be at Mountain Lake City Cemetery, Mountain Lake, MN. Officiating will be Rev. Peter Kufahl Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home, Mountain Lake E-mail condolences can be sent at: www.sturmfh.com Loren Andrew Footsy Feil was the first of six children born to Gottfried and Katharina (Mende) Feil on January 27, 1919. Loren attended Mountain Lake Public school graduating with the class of 1937. He worked with his father and crew as a builder. During the process of tearing down a granary on the Vosage farm in July 1941, they came home to find his mother Kate, crying and holding a letter from Uncle Sam. After passing his physical, he entered the US Army and while on a ship to the Philippines in December of 1941, World War II was declared. Loren was with the 47th Engineers and come home the Summer of 1945 to again join the GS Feil and Son's Builders. A favorite Feil story was when Loren's father said My boy went to the bank to get a nickel! Translation being Loren met Esther Buddy Nickel, who worked at the bank. They were married October 16, 1952, at First Mennonite Church. Loren was baptized, confirmed and was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake. Loren enjoyed photography, birding, lawn work, traveling and opera with Buddy and building: especially his home, Trinity Lutheran Church, First Mennonite Church and developing 13th Street. He is survived by his wife, Buddy; brothers Don and Ron (Bev); sister Vera (Wayne) Starr; sister-in-law Marilyn (Pete Peterson) Feil; Godchildren: Curt (Brenda) Feil and Cheryl (Steve Morrill) Starr; nephews, nieces and cousins. Loren was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert and Gottfried, and parents-in-law. Blessed Be His Memory.
