Lora June (Wall) Wendler was born June 12, 1935, to Walter and Bertha (Finger) Wall near Comfrey. She was the oldest of 10 children. Lora lived in the Comfrey area most of her early years except for when she lived in Springfield during her 3rd and 4th grade. She began working outside of the home when she was 10 cleaning, babysitting, and candling eggs. Lora was proud of the fact that she paid for all her school supplies and clothes herself except for one winter coat. She graduated from Comfrey High School in 1953. Lora then worked for Schmidt’s Café for 10 years. The café is where she met Andy, the new mechanic from Weise Chevrolet when he came in to eat lunch. On September 8, 1954, Lora married Andrew Wendler and the couple was blessed with 3 children. She then worked at the Fairway Store in Comfrey and Control Data in Redwood Falls. On November 4, 1974, Andy and Lora began working with the World Mission Prayer League in Minneapolis. In June of 1976, the started serving as missionaries in Kenya, Africa until February 1992. They then returned to work at the World Mission Prayer League office until 2000 and then retired to Comfrey in April.
She is survived by her daughter Mona Sjoblom; grandchildren - Isaac and wife Wendy (Rogotzke) Sjoblom and Jacob Sjoblom; great grandson Martin Sjoblom; siblings - Barbara and husband Curtis Johnson, Gerald Wall, Fran Bussert, Nancy and husband James Sarter, Cindy Blackstad, Daniel and wife Terri (Toliver) Wall; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Lora was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Wendler; children - Mark Wendler and Marcia Wendler; parents Walter and Bertha (Finger) Wall; parents-in-law Emil Sr. and Hattie (Mueller) Wendler; siblings - Dorothy and husband Richard Schwartz, Lucy Johnson, Evonne and husband Lynn Klages, Diane Bussert, and Steve Blackstad; brothers and sisters-in-law Walter and Beverly (Briese) Wendler and Emil Jr. and Geraldine (Maha) Wendler.
Memorials are preferred to World Mission Prayer League, New Hope Lutheran Church, or the food shelf.
