Lola June McCorquodale Peterreins was born on June 21, 1930, to Archie and Eva (McCormick) McCorquodale on a farm south of Echo, just as her dad and the doctor were driving up the lane. Lola attended and graduated from Echo High School in 1948 after her elementary years at a country school. She participated in many activities such as band, choir, plays and speech. Her class was a very close group and kept in touch for many years, including having class reunions every year.
Lola married Eugene James Peterreins of Echo on November 13, 1948 at the Methodist parsonage in Wood Lake. They had been introduced to each other by Gene's sister, Ramona, a classmate and good friend of Lola's. They were married for 39 years before Gene passed away from complication of Multiple Sclerosis. She was a wonderful caregiver for Gene as he battled MS for many years.
Besides being a wonderful mom to their four children, Lola was also the city clerk of Lamberton for many years, worked as a nurse's aide and also was a census taker. Throughout the years, Lola enjoyed being a member of the United Methodist Church and served on many committees. She was also a life-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served as president when Gene was the commander of the Legion. Lola was a member of the Red Hat Club and a card club. Other activities she liked to do were Friday night Bingo, watching the Twins and golf on TV. Lola was a voracious reader and always had books beside her. It was not uncommon to find some of those to be cook books. Lola was a wonderful cook and baker, being famous for her homemade buns. It was never a special occasion without her buns at the table.
In 1988, Gene and Lola purchased a lake home on Green Lake in Spicer. It was a wonderful place for everyone in the family to gather and create memories. After Gene passed away that summer, Lola continued living at the cabin for many summers so the grandchildren could enjoy the lake. Lola's greatest joy was her family.
Lola passed away peacefully at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN on April 17, 2024, at the age of 93, the very same day her fifth great-great grandchild was born.
Lola is survived by her four children - Linda (Richard) Dawson, Debra Thram, Michael (Patricia) Peterreins and Richard (Diane) Peterreins; grandchildren - Jason (Robyn) Thram, James (Tawnya) Peterreins, Marc (Jill) Dawson. Jared (Gina) Peterreins, Jessica Ehlers, Jon (Amber) Peterreins, Matthew (Lesley) Dawson, Justin (Courtney) Thram and Jacob (Kari) Peterreins; 22 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings and their spouses; son-in-law Steven Thram and grandchildren, Jackie Lynn Thram and Jeramy Robert Thram.
