Lois Ann Gramstad

Lois Ann (Schurman) Gramstad, age 93, of Sanborn passed away Sunday, September 6, 2026, at St. John's Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN.

Visitation will be held from 10:00am until 11:00am on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 11:00am at Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn. The clergy will be Pastor Jim Renz. Interment will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Sanborn. Lois was born on November 23, 1932, in Garretson, S. D. to Harry and Alma (Reemts) Schurman and raised on the Schurman farm outside of Garretson. Lois attended school in Garretson, graduating in 1950.

Alvin and Lois met roller skating and they married ten months later. On August 24, 1952, Lois and Alvin were united in marriage at the United Church of Christ in Garretson and this August 24th they celebrated 74 years of marriage.

Lois and Alvin lived in Garretson, SD, Luverne, MN and Slayton, MN where Alvin managed lumber yards. In 1958 they moved to Sanborn and founded Gramstad Lumber. Lois was an extremely dedicated and hard-working wife, helping Alvin wherever and whenever she was needed along with raising their five children. Alvin called Lois his good will ambassador.

Lois was a member of Zion Lutheran Church since 1958 and Ladies Aid in Sanborn. Lois frequently visited nursing homes and neighbors through the years bringing her companionship to those who needed it. Lois also volunteered for the American Red Cross Blood Mobile, local elections and American Legion hamburger stand along with Alvin flipping burgers on Watermelon Days.

Lois loved her family very much and in return she was cherished, she was loved. Lois' family is thankful for the full and long life she was given.

Survived by and grateful to have shared their lives together is her husband, Alvin; children, Barbara, Janet (Mitch), Ron (Amy), Warren (Jill), and Steven (Jaci); grandchildren, Alanna (Chuck), Justin (Lisa), Brandon (Emily), Jon (Karlee), Jeff (Leah), Nic, Lindsey (Jay), Derek (Tricia), Tara (Jared), Randee (Justin), Katie (Jase), and Amber; great-grandchildren, Bailey (Derek), Kade, Ayden, Layla, Ellie, Hudson, August, Cora, Millie, Autumn, Willow, Archer, Oakley, Chloe, Kendall, Parker, Noah, Graham, Aria, Rhett, and two baby Gladis's on the way.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Alma Schurman; brother, Donald; and son-in-law, Greg.
