Lois May Friesen

Lois May Friesen age 93, of Mountain Lake, Minnesota died on November 27, 2021, at Good Samaritan Lodge, Mountain Lake. Visitation will be on Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the Sturm Funeral Home, Mountain Lake Chapel. Service will be held at the Sturm Funeral Home, Mountain Lake Chapel, on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 10:00 am. The clergy will be Pastor Linda Becken. Interment will be at the Mountain Lake City Cemetery. Lois May (Gohr) Friesen was born July 12th, 1928 to Leo and Mae (Kruger) Gohr on their family farm in Kimball Township, Jackson County, MN. She graduated from Mt. Lake High School and later took courses at the Mankato Commercial College. On December 31, 1951, Lois married Melvin Friesen in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, they had 3 children and shared 64 years of marriage. For 22 years, Lois was employed with Mt. Lake Observer Advocate as the office manager. In her free time she enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, hiking, collecting antiques and dressing old dolls. She especially loved making and decorating Christmas cookies during the holidays. Lois is survived by her 3 children, Marcia (Mike) Pietsch of Mt. Lake, MN, Daniel (Lorraine Leslie) Friesen of Seattle, WA and Gail Belben of Butterfield, MN; her sisters, Jeanette Hale and Leola Gohr of Mt.Lake, MN; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, with one on the way. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Mae Gohr; her husband of 64 years, Melvin; brothers, Francis and George Gohr; sisters, Ruth Jones and Lorraine Devens.
