Lois Kathryn Miller was born August 29, 1928 at Butterfield to parents Robert and Amelia (Bartz) Miller. She grew up on the family farm near Butterfield. She graduated from high school in Butterfield and worked at the Watonwan Cafe before getting married. On June 8, 1952, she was united in marriage to James Ewert. The couple made their home in St. James. Lois raised her 2 children and did day care out of her home for many years. She loved her flower garden, she would spend countless hours tending her flowers which she took great pride. She enjoyed the holidays and all of the cooking, baking and decorating that went along with them. She loved to entertain family and friends. She enjoyed her grandchildren and attending their sporting events. Gathering with friends at church and at McDonald's was also important to her. Lois passed away on Monday, December 18, 2006 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato, she was 78 years of age. She is preceded in death by her son Brad, parents and sister Naomi Kennedy. Lois is survived by her husband, James Spike Ewert of St. James, daughter, Mary Jo (Roger) Hagen of St. James, daughter-in-law, Bernie Ewert of St. James, grandchildren, Brandon Hagen, Sara Hagen, Jenny Ewert and Nate Ewert, sisters, Donna (William) Miest of St. James, Phyllis (Al) Haler of St. James, brother, Bob (Marty) Miller of St. James, sisters-in-law, Ileane (Harvey) Voth of St. James, Jean (Dick) Lepp of St. James, Kathleen Fjermestad of St. Peter and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
