Lois Batzlaff

Lois Batzlaff was born on February 25, 1936, near Windom, MN, the daughter of John and Johanna (Valentin) Menken. She attended and graduated from Windom High School where she participated in 4-H and enjoyed singing. She worked as a Telephone Operator following her education. Lois met Norman Batzlaff at the Cottonwood County Fair in June of 1952. They began dating and a short time later were engaged. After Normans return from his service in Korea, the couple married in January of 1956. They lived on the family farm outside of Lamberton where they were blessed with 9 children. Lois loved being a Mother and always put others before herself. She took pride in raising chickens. Her hobbies were watching the MN Vikings, Wheel of Fortune, listening to the MN Twins, and playing board games or cards. Lois passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at the Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN at the age of 82 years. She is survived by 9 children- Sharon Hernandez (Jorge Gonzalez) of Owatonna, MN, Brian (Diana) Batzlaff of Belgrade, MN, Bruce (Dawn) Batzlaff of Alexandria, MN, Doug (Sara) Batzlaff of Rochester, MN, Kathy Carsten (Craig) of Oak Harbor, WA, Gail Medhin (Solomon) of Kent, WA, Lisa Batzlaff (Mike Stewart) of Willmar, MN, Brenda Batzlaff of Lamberton, MN, and Julie Piasecki (Tom) of Brooklyn Park, MN; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a sister - Florence Hunter of Windom, MN.
