Llewellyn Kosel

Llewellyn L.J. was born to August and Lillie (Neeb) Kosel on March 4, 1915, at their home in Brown County, MN. Llewellyn married Doris Radtke on June 18, 1941 in Walnut Grove, MN. After marriage L.J. and Doris lived on his home farm for 5 years and then purchased their own farm place in 1947 and they lived there for 55 years. L.J. and his brother Merlin farmed together for 40 years. The couple moved to Springfield in 2002 where Doris cared for him until the last 11 days of his life where he resided at St. John Lutheran Home. Llewellyn was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn, MN where he served as an Elder and chairman for 40 years. He was the supervisor of Charlestown township for 50 years, chairman of the local Farmer's Union for 10 years, chairman of the Redwood County Farmers Union for 9 years and also active in state and national Farmer's Union activities. L.J. is survived by his wife of 65 years, Doris and children - Marsha (Jim) Renner of Waconia, MN, Charlotte (John) Altermatt of Wanda, Brian (Linda) Kosel of Owatonna, Kevin (Paulette) Kosel fo Redwood Falls; 13 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren; brother - Merlin (Darlene) Kosel of Sanborn; sisters - Gladys Krentz of Kensington, MN and Delores Knoll of Groton, SD; sister-in-law - Ilamay Addison of Lamberton; sister-in-law and brother-in-law - Helen (Don) Anderson of Spencer, IA. L.J. is preceded in death by his parents.
