In Loving Memory of Linda Kay Wall

April 1, 1960 to March 14, 2024

Linda Kay Wall passed away peacefully at the age of 63 on March 14, 2024. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and love that touched the lives of countless people.

Above all, Linda was a lover of people. She made friends wherever she went. With her welcoming spirit, she brought people together and created lasting bonds. She had a way of making everyone feel like family, often referring to them as “sista” or “honey” with genuine affection. When told during one of her last days in the hospital that she had an overwhelming number of visitors coming and it might wear her out, she said, “Good. I want to be overwhelmed.” She drew strength and comfort from being with people.

She was born in New Ulm, MN on April 1, 1960, the daughter of Douglas and Joanne (Gebhart) Wall. She grew up in Comfrey, MN, where she played volleyball and was a color guard member for the school band. She graduated from high school in 1978 and attended Willmar Vo-Tech, where she studied Food and Beverage Management.

After graduation, Linda worked in St. Cloud, MN, where she met lifelong colleagues and friends. Her work took her to Rochester, MN, Fayetteville, AK, and Tulsa, OK. In 2017, Linda began working at Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts on Monkey Island, OK, where she was the Director of Catering. She was very dedicated to the people she worked for and with at Shangri-La. She was proud that she could contribute to building the business from scratch.

Linda had a passion for her work as a director of catering, where she poured her heart into creating memorable experiences for others. Colleagues and clients alike admired her attention to detail and unwavering commitment to excellence. She was a two-time winner of the Oklahoma Hotel & Lodging Association Employee of the Year award.

In her free time, she would enjoy the simple pleasures of life, such as savoring a glass of wine or her favorite drink, Diet Coke. Most importantly, Linda cherished her faith in Jesus Christ, finding strength and solace in His love and teachings. Her unwavering belief was a guiding light, inspiring those around her to embrace compassion, forgiveness, and grace.

Linda died on Thursday, March 14th, at St. Johns Circle of Care in Springfield, MN, surrounded by family and friends following a battle with lung cancer. Linda and her loved ones would like to express their deep gratitude for the exceptional care and attention provided by Linda’s medical and care professionals.

Survivors include her mother Joanne Wall of Springfield, MN; sister Jeanette (Kevin) Rupp of Eden Prairie, MN; nieces Alyssa (Joe Maher) Rupp of Portland, OR and Lauren (Cameron Poler) Rupp of Missoula, MT; and many friends. Linda was preceded in death by her father Douglas and brother Keith.

Linda's memorial service will be held at Asbury Church in Tulsa from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on April 5, 2024, followed by a reception at Shangri-La Resort on Monkey Island from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
