The family invites all who knew Linda to join them in honoring her life, her contributions to the community, and her unwavering spirit of kindness and service. Linda's legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched, her spirit forever carrying on in the classrooms and communities she so dearly loved.
Born on December 10, 1951, in Sleepy Eye, MN, Linda was the daughter of the late Leo E. and Phyllis Schroepfer. She spent her early years surrounded by a close-knit family, and it was clear from a young age that she had a passion for helping others. Linda attended country school at District 210 until 6th grade, then went to Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s, graduating in 1969. After completing her BA in Education at SMSU in Marshall, MN, Linda moved back to Sleepy Eye and married the love of her life, Michael Seifert, on July 3rd, 1976, beginning a partnership that spanned forty-eight years. Together, they raised two beloved children, Timothy and Kailey, who were the pride and joy of their life.
Linda’s career as an educator spanned an incredible thirty-seven years, two of those years were spent at St. Michael’s in Morgan, MN, and the last thirty-five years were spent at Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s, during which she made a lasting impact on the lives of countless students. She was honored with the prestigious Golden Apple Award, a recognition of her dedication and excellence in the classroom. She was more than just a teacher - Linda was a mentor, a coach, and a guiding light for her students and colleagues alike.
Beyond her work as an educator, Linda was deeply involved in her community. She participated in community theater, specifically Guys and Dolls and Nunsense, sharing her talents and infectious humor with others. She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she served as a lector and part of the Adult Contemporary Group. Linda was an active member of her local book club, fostering fellowship and fun. As a farmer’s wife, Linda played an essential role in the day-to-day life of the farm, from managing household affairs to helping with harvests and tending to the animals. In her later years, she enjoyed spending quiet moments together with her beloved spouse, Mike, as his caretaker.
Linda was also a passionate sports fan. She was a proud supporter of the Minnesota Vikings and could always be counted on for her spirited cheers at St. Mary’s Knights sporting events, especially while Timothy and Kailey were involved. She kept stats for St. Mary’s softball as well as the Sleepy Eye Area Fastpitch Association softball teams that Kailey coached for twelve summers. She was also an avid supporter of the Stark Longhorns baseball team and rarely missed a game. Watching Timothy play baseball for Stark was one of her greatest joys later in life.
In addition to her many community contributions, Linda was known for her warm sense of humor and infectious laugh, which could light up any room. Linda was a devoted wife, mother, sister, teacher, and friend whose life touched the hearts of everyone she met.
Linda is survived by her son, Timothy and his fiancée, Jenna Zuhlsdorf and daughter, Kailey; siblings, Dan Schroepfer (special friend Sara Fliflet), Debbie (Jim) Kuderer, Laurie (Glenn) Sieve, Lisa (Perry) Pietig, and Dohn Schroepfer; half-brother, Dustin (Jessica) Schroepfer; step mother, Lorraine Schroepfer; step siblings, Cynthia (Scott) Suprenant, Paul (Denise) Van Keulen, Mary (Paul) Thomas, and Kathy (Mark) Haug; and many dear friends and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo E. and Phyllis Schroepfer and husband, Michael Seifert.
Due to the nature of this recent loss, the family of Linda Seifert will not be sending individual thank-you cards. Please accept our sincere gratitude for your support, prayers, and understanding during this time.
