Linda Dempsey

Linda Dempsey passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato. Linda Mae Sanders was born October 5, 1955 in Trimont, the daughter of William and Theresa (Hoscheid) Sanders. Linda spent her first few years on the family farm south of Long Lake moving into St. James in March 1959. She graduated from St. James High School in 1973 and received her bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Mankato State College. Linda worked at the VFW in St. James for 34 years, manager for the past 26 years. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in St. James and confirmed at St. James Catholic Church. She married Brian Dempsey at St. James Catholic Church on June 11, 1983. She served as President of the Eagles Club in St. James twice. Lindas passions were her family, friends and shopping. She loved to sit on the dock or patio and visit for hours. She also loved shopping and her famous drinking Pepsi through a straw. Linda is survived by her husband Brian Dempsey, son Shawn Dempsey both of St. James, sisters; Sandra Sanders of Litchfield Park, AZ, Kathleen (Larry) Allen of Vernon Center, brother Scott (Amy) Sanders of St. James, in-laws; Michael Dempsey of Prior Lake, Mary Dempsey of Shakopee, Timothy (Pam) Dempsey of Shakopee and Milo Bjerke of Byron. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Karen Bjerke, sister-in-law Barbara Edd and great-niece Rilee Bjerke.
