Lilly Bertha Massey was born on August 20, 1911 in Springfield, MN to William Bertha (Gramentz) Massey. She married George Hooley Fischer on April 4, 1932 in New Ulm. They lived their married life in Sleepy Eye. Lilly was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. She belonged to the Elizabeth Bible Study Group, Trinity Ladies Aide, the VFW Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary in Sleepy Eye and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary in California. She had been employed at Anthony'sDepartment Store, Del Monte and worked at Divine Providence Community Home for 18 years. She was a devoted wife and mother to her family and had a very strong spiritual faith. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, helping other people and sharing time with her family and friends. She is survived by seven children; William (Louise) Fischer of San Mateo, CA, Edward (Diane) Fischer of Copperopolis, CA, Georgeen Dietz of Sleepy Eye, Darleen (Gerald) Current of Sleepy Eye, Audrey (Donn) Bruess of Sleepy Eye, Irene (Joe) Maertens of Fridley, MN, Deanna (Dwight) Cox of Brooklyn Park, MN, 22 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Katherine Hanson and Carol Walden, both of Sleepy Eye, Marian Fischer of St. Paul and brother-in-law, Dean (Judy)Fischer of New Ulm. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George on May 4, 1967, son-in-law, Clarence Dietz, sisters, Anna Massey and Erna Sellner, brother, Emil Massey and three grandsons.
