Leverne Overson, age 86, of St. James, died at his home in Mesa, AZ, on Wednesday, May 9, 2012. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Augustana Lutheran Church in St. James with Rev. Kathleen Ulland-Klinkner officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. James with Military Honors provided y the St. James Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be Friday at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James from 4pm until 7:30pm with a Masonic Service at 7:30pm visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Leverne C. Overson, 86, of St. James MN, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2012 at his home in Mesa, AZ. Leverne was born in Nicollet County Minnesota on September 30, 1925 to Henry and Clara (Engdahl) Overson. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and graduated from Mankato State College in 1950 with a Bachelor's of Science Degree. He was married to Elois Johnson of rural St. Peter, MN. and they settled in the Mankato area. Following graduation he went into the lumber business and managed yards in Matawon and Blue Earth, MN. In 1965, he and Elois purchased the Hage Lumber Company in St. James MN. The family business has expanded to include locations in Sleepy Eye, Lamberton, Wabasso, Jackson and Westbrook and a Design Center in New Ulm. Leverne was a faithful member of Augustana Lutheran Church, a 50-year+ member of the Masons; the Zuhrah Shrine of Phoenix; a sponsor of Job's Daughters; and member of the American Legion, VFW, and the Eagles Club. Leverne had a passion for his hobbies which included golfing, fishing and gardening. One of his greatest joys was spending time with family and friends in both MN and AZ. He is survived by his wife Elois, sons Lanny (Emma) of St James , Lynn (Mary) of St James, Lee (Deborah) of Mesa, Lowell (Kathryn) of Mantorville, Larry (Lisa) of Kennewick, WA ; daughter Lynda of Mesa, 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He is survived by a sister Eunice Shelly of Bloomington; brothers Harlan (Loretta) of Sun Lakes, AZ; James of Bloomington; Larry (Karen) of Sun City, AZ. He is survived by a sister-in-law Sandra (Chuck) Alt of Sartell and brother-in-laws Buster (Valoria) of St. Peter, Timothy (Beverly) of St. Peter and Larry ( Janice) of St. Peter.
