Lester Imker

Lester J. Imker was born on May 14, 1920 in Hitchcock, SD, the son of Otto and Ruth Fulkerson. At the age of 11 years, Lester moved with his family to Highwater Township, south of Lamberton. He graduated from Lamberton High School. Lester entered the U.S. Army on August 29, 1942 and was honorable discharged on December 3, 1945. He was united in marriage to Donna Sweely on November 4, 1946. Lester drove truck, worked for area farmers before farming on his own starting in 1948. He farmed south of Lamberton until his retirement in 1981. Following retirement he moved to Spicer and enjoyed fishing much of the time. He returned to Lamberton in 2002 to be closer to family. Lester was a member of the American Legion. Lester died on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Valley View Manor in Lamberton at the age of 92 years. He is survived by his children - Lester Imker Jr. of Ellendale, MN, Julie (Jerry) Panitzke of Springfield, MN, Richard (Judy) Imker of Cambridge, MN, James (Susan) Imker of Lamberton, MN, Arden (Jackie) Imker of Lamberton, MN; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother Dwight "Johnny" (Alice) Imker of Chanhassen; sister Virginia (Marvin) Stadum of Sioux Falls, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife - Donna in 1978, wife - Norma in 2010, a granddaughter - Teresa Imker in 1988, and a grandson - Chip Imker in 2011.
