Leonard Roiger

Leonard Frank Roiger was born April 29, 1923 on the family farm in Northstar Township to Joseph N. and Mary (Lang) Roiger. He attended country school and was united in marriage to Marion Platz on April 29, 1946 at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield. Leonard and Marion lived and farmed the family farm until retirement. Leonard became a resident of St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield on August 16, 2011. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, having coffee with family and friends, and playing the concertina. The Roiger's look forward and enjoyed Sundays as a family on the farm. Leonard was a lifetime member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church and a member of Catholic Aid. For over 25 years, Leonard and Marion delivered Meals on Wheels in Springfield. He is survived by wife Marion of Springfield; 13 children- Nancy (Ernest) Vogel of Springfield, Judy (Dan) Schroeder of Springfield, Ron (Carol) Roiger of Appleton, Barb (Mark) Haschka of Grand Rapids, Rosie (Dale) Potter of Springfield, Patsy (James) Petersen of Red Wing, Charlene (Chris) Haschka of Edina, MaryKay (Don) Knudson of Rochester, Mark (Jackie) Roiger of Springfield, Tom (Darla) Roiger of Sleepy Eye, Richard (Bev) Roiger of Carver, Jon (Sheila) Roiger of Springfield, and Keith Roiger of Mound; 40 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters- Mary Wendl, Frances Wersal, and Gertrude, Stella and Lucy Roiger; and daughter-in-law Jill Roiger.
