Leonard Koch

Leonard Herman Koch was born on May 15, 1924, near Wanda, MN, the son of John and Metha (Tesch) Koch. He was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on December 11, 1944 and was honorably discharged on December 8, 1946. Leonard was united in marriage on May 29, 1951 to Melva Meinert at St. John Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. The couple farmed by Evan for 16 years. In 1968, they moved to a farm northwest of Lamberton and in 1992 they retired and moved east of Lamberton. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the American Legion post in Lamberton. He enjoyed horses, farming, playing cards - especially rummy, visiting with friends and neighbors, and most of all, time with family, grandkids, and great grandkids. Leonard passed away on Friday, September 9, 2016, at his daughter and son-in-law's home in Corcoran, MN at the age of 92 years. He is survived by his children - Kenneth (Paulette) Koch of Walnut Grove, MN, Randy Koch of Bloomsberg, PA, Steve (Traci) Koch of Hawick, MN, Ron Koch of Bloomington, MN, and Darla (Rod) Priebe of Corcoran, MN; 13 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife - Melva in 2008; sisters - Erna (Lloyd) Meinert, Alma (Isadore) Cook, and Helen (Art) Nachman; and brothers - Edwin "Duke" Koch and Melvin (Delpha) Koch.
