Leonard Halvorson

July 7, 1930 — December 16, 2012

Leonard Earl Halvorson passed away on December 16, 2012, at Valley View Manor in Lamberton at the age of 82 years. He was born to Adolf and Mabel (Fester) Halvorson on July 7, 1930. Leonard attended school in Lamberton. After school, he entered the Marine Corps and was stationed in San Diego, CA and later finished serving in Hawaii. While stationed in San Diego, he was united in marriage to Rita Kay (Armagost) Halvorson in 1953. Leonard and Rita made southern Minnesota their home. Leonard made his living as a TV repairman, carpenter, plumber, and later retired from Sanborn Manufacturing on June 30, 1992. Leonard enjoyed his retirement spending time with family, listening to polka music, and going for drives enjoying wildlife. He entered Valley View Manor in June of 2012, due to failing health, where he resided until his death. Leonard is survived by children- Lon (Kris) Halvorson of Lamberton, Larry (Denise) Halvorson of Redwood Falls, Mike (Jean) Halvorson of Sanborn, Nancy (Wayne) Brown of New Richmond, James (Jennifer) Halvorson of Ellendale, and Thomas (Sharon) Halvorson of Lamberton; brother Ed Halvorson of Arizona; and sisters- Marilyn, Darlene, Dorris, and Amy. He was preceded in death by his parents Adolf and Mabel Halvorson; son Robert Halvorson; and sisters- Amanda and Irene. Leonard was blessed with 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all.
