Leonard Lloyd Brown was born January 9, 1926, on the family farm near Sanborn, MN, the son of Herman and Louise (Essig) Brown. He was inducted into the U.S. Army in July of 1951 and served in Korea until July of 1953. Leonard was united in marriage to Geraldine Gramentz on March 10, 1954, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Springfield. The couple farmed the family farm until Leonard retired in 1988. Leonard was also the sales manager for Archer's Oil for several years. He was a member of Jehovah's Witness and enjoyed fishing, playing cards, helping neighbors, and shelling corn. Leonard Lloyd Brown died Sunday, October 21, 2007, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 81 years. Survivors include wife- Geraldine of Sanborn; children- Dave of Springfield, Darla Brown and Doug Raddatz of Springfield, Doug of Springfield, and Dean and wife Paula of Sanborn; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and sisters- Leona Zimmerman of Sanborn, Elizabeth (Betty) Sutschek of Chicago, IL, and Suzie Yeazel of Monticello. He was preceded in death by his parents; son- Daniel in 1965; grandson- Joseph; brothers- Walter, Raymond, Dwight, Orville, and Arthur; and sister- Arlean Keizer.
